The documented KG event ledger path does not exist; the live event bus is elsewhere

The KG event ledger path documented across the brain does not exist. ls ~/.hermes/state/kg_events.jsonl returns "No such file or directory", and no file matching
kg_events* exists anywhere under the home directory. ~/.hermes/scripts/fleet_bridge.py
still names it (LEDGER = ~/.hermes/state/kg_events.jsonl) and claims the kg_ledger package
writes it. That package is absent: ls ~/.hermes/scripts/kg_ledger/ fails and from kg_ledger.writer import append raises ModuleNotFoundError. ~/.hermes/scripts/fleet_layer_guard.sh
tests the same path with [ -s ... ] || add "kg ledger missing/empty", so the guard reports a
missing ledger by construction.
Two readers are affected: README.md (line 108) and fleet/memory-systems.md (item 1 of
"the five stores") both describe the dead ledger, and the decision record
decisions/2026-07-12-sensitive-action-authorization-...md cites events from it.
The Hermes event bus that is in use writes somewhere else. hermes_event_bus.py,
hermes_attention.py, hermes_memory_init.py and the week's weekly-brain-distill prompt all
bind ~/.hermes/ops/state/events.jsonl. That file is live: 12.9 MB, mtime 2026-10-03 21:52,
2730 entries in the last seven days from hermes_domain_health.py and
hermes_cognitive_cycle.py.
Rule: a documented path is not a live path. Before a scheduled job reads a store, confirm the file exists and identify which writer produces it. An absent ledger makes every reader report failure, and the failure is a path mismatch, not an outage.
